Dapple gray Andalusian stallion drawing.
Size: 18x24 inches
I worked on this for a few hours a week for the past 3 months. It probably took something around 25 hours total. Ground and background are not finished because I'm still trying to decide what to do with them.

How do you draw/color dapples? I've only attempted it a couple times, and I can never get the right look!

I start with a darker pencil (here I used 4B) and softly create half a circle. It doesn't have to be perfectly shaped since dapples are kind of lopsided, and don't press too hard otherwise it won't look right. Then blend from the outside of the circle to the inside with a lighter pencil. You have to make sure you create lighter dapples without the dark pencil too though, for more depth and dimension. I'll put a Youtube tutorial up on how to draw them if that would help you. :)
